The arduous task of daily laundry now falls to the men . . .

"Letting those women take over the meeting, now look at us!"

"I ain't going back to work unless the company installs hot running water . . ."

Sheriff's deputies try to disrupt the women's picket line
|
As their men watch with admiration, the women chase the deputies off the line
|
The sheriff jails the picket line's leaders
|
"These dames are driving me crazy!"
|
Released from jail, the women plan their picket strategy
|
Esperanza anticipates the coming confrontation with Ramon over equality and respect in their marriage
|
The Sheriff tries to break the strike by evicting Ramon & Esperanza's family, emptying the home of its furniture
|
Esperanza defies the Sheriff and leads the women in returning the furniture to the home
|
"We're not going to go down fighting, we're going to win!"
|
Management settles "for now" and the community rejoices
|
"Share your riches with us, land of our birth, With the children of the sun, the salt of the earth."
